Immortality?

Is the human race and the genetic mutations that we create both intentionally and unintentionally going to lead to immortality? We now have a possible genetic path to follow. After all, I always wanted to be a jellyfish...

How my fiance and I met

In January of 2005 I went to a Fry's electronics looking for blank cds for my friend Mojdeh. We got there at about 8 at night. The moment we got to the computer section of the store, Bret, an employee at the time, walks up very confidently and asks us how he can help. I was immediately put off by his over confidence and assured him that we could find everything we needed by ourselves. Well, he doesn't give up and continues to offer help for a few more minutes before we can shoo him off.

Well it turns out we did need his help! We tried to find him after a half hour of failing to find the cds. Eventually we met up with another employee who didn't have any more success than we did. Bret sees us fumbling around and comes to our rescue. <3 We go our separate ways, Mojdeh and I to the checkout line and him to the break room. Mojdeh accuses me of flirting outrageously (which I deny to this day) but convinces me to go ask him out.

I go to the door of the break room and wait for him. He comes out backwards, and didn't realize it was me at first when I asked "excuse me?" My favorite part of the story is what I said next: "Since you were so helpful today, why don't you help me find some dinner?" I completely stole his pickup line! He was on his way to wait outside to ask me out, and I beat him to the punch. A few days later he took me to my favorite restaurant by accident, and we've been reading each other's minds ever since.

The most interesting part may be this: we had technically been introduced the previous summer at the Renaissance Faire, and took a class together 2 weeks later. We were fated to be in each other's lives.

Candy Cane Lane

I had my first craft show yesterday at the elementary school I went to as a child. My mom had a booth there last year selling webkinz accessories. We went ahead and put the left overs out for sale next to my buttons. Last year, my mom felt it had been a marginal success because she managed to make $100 which covered cost of supplies, as well as the cost of the booth plus a little extra. This year we almost broke $200! My mom made $90 on her webkinz things, which was great because it went to covering cost of labor and the rest was just profit! For myself I made about $100 from my buttons and mirrors, though I didn't sell any magnets. I think that may have been due to the fact that the magnets were set on the wall behind me rather than on the table. The booth cost $35 (which my mom covered 1/2) and the supplies of the buttons I sold was about $20. $15 went to my little brother for helping out :) He was great, even better than I was at convincing people to "make your own button." I had a few people interested in having me come out to do parties, and a few interested in custom orders. Very glad I had business cards, even if they are cheepo Vista-print and don't have my logo (lol). I don't think I'll do the "make your own" again. It was a lot more work to bring along the supplies, and not too many people were interested.

By the way, Jonas Brother's pins were by far the most popular.

Harasment

A few days ago my company had a sexual harassment training session. I was told about it, but I had forgotten about it completely. The entire company, including my two good friends, had known and gone downstairs on time. I saw everyone going downstairs, but not one person stopped to tell me where they were going! Not even my friends, who had to pass my desk to get downstairs.

So, 10 minutes after the meeting, my boss comes up and tells me she must have gotten the time wrong. I shrug and go along with it because I still have no clue what's going on. When I get to the program room, there is only one seat left, in the middle of the aisle at the front of the room. I had to sit between a friend who is very raunchy and the Vice President of the company who is very intimidating! Not a great start. Well, I got through it and I won't have to do this again until next year.

On the bright side Karma had my back. There were 3 to a table, and my two good friends ended up sitting with the creepy guy who didn't understand how anything could be sexual harassment. I could have been sitting with them having a grand old time.
