In January of 2005 I went to a Fry's electronics looking for blank cds for my friend Mojdeh. We got there at about 8 at night. The moment we got to the computer section of the store, Bret, an employee at the time, walks up very confidently and asks us how he can help. I was immediately put off by his over confidence and assured him that we could find everything we needed by ourselves. Well, he doesn't give up and continues to offer help for a few more minutes before we can shoo him off.
Well it turns out we did need his help! We tried to find him after a half hour of failing to find the cds. Eventually we met up with another employee who didn't have any more success than we did. Bret sees us fumbling around and comes to our rescue. <3 We go our separate ways, Mojdeh and I to the checkout line and him to the break room. Mojdeh accuses me of flirting outrageously (which I deny to this day) but convinces me to go ask him out.
I go to the door of the break room and wait for him. He comes out backwards, and didn't realize it was me at first when I asked "excuse me?" My favorite part of the story is what I said next: "Since you were so helpful today, why don't you help me find some dinner?" I completely stole his pickup line! He was on his way to wait outside to ask me out, and I beat him to the punch. A few days later he took me to my favorite restaurant by accident, and we've been reading each other's minds ever since.
The most interesting part may be this: we had technically been introduced the previous summer at the Renaissance Faire, and took a class together 2 weeks later. We were fated to be in each other's lives.
